Organizers of the Cambridge Jazz Festival announced five of the acts that will be performing on July 27th at University Park Commons on Sidney St.. The free outdoor event features a diverse selection of local and national artists along with festival food and refreshments.
Musicians include:
- Terri Lyne Carrington, a two-time Grammy winner, the first female artist to win a Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, a dazzling jazz percussionist—and a Medford native.
- Ron Savage Trio, featuring the percussionist Ron Savage combines elements of BeBop, Swing, Gospel, African, R&B and Brazilian styles into a fresh new sound.
- Dominique Eades, a jazz vocalist and winner of several Boston Music Awards, whose extraordinary voice has been compared to Sarah Vaughn’s.
- Fernando Brandao and the Berklee Brazilian All-Stars, a nine-piece local group playing Brazilian-style jazz.
- The Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School Jazz Ensemble, a talented group comprised of Cambridge students. Led by instructor Guillermo Nojechowicz and assistant principal and saxophonist Bobby Tynes, the high-energy groups plays in a variety of styles.
