Terri Lyne Carrington will be among the artists headlining at this summer’s Cambridge Jazz Festival. She is a two-time Grammy winner and the first female artist to win a Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album.

Drummer, composer, producer, entrepreneur, and clinician, Terri Lyne Carrington was born in Medford, Massachusetts. She has toured with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Al Jarreau, Stan Getz, David Sanborn, Joe Sample, Cassandra Wilson, Clark Terry and has worked with Jack DeJohnette, James Moody, Lester Bowie and Pharoah Sanders. In the ’80s, she was also the house drummer for the Arsenio Hall Show.

In addition to performing and recording, Carrington is a professor at Berklee College of Music and also received an honorary doctorate from Berklee in 2003.

“Terry is world-class—unquestionably one of the most extraordinary jazz artists of the last decade—thoughtful, passionate, deeply creative and true virtuoso,” said Executive Director Larry Ward. “We’re so proud to be able to feature her in the first Cambridge Jazz Festival!”
